AUSTIN, Texas – September 3, 2009 – More than 350 stylish Austinites turned out to support the Young Women’s Alliance Foundation’s 5th Annual Fashion Show on August 27 at The Parish. YWA & YMBL Host Happy Hour on 5/28 to Celebrate Au40 Proceeds AUSTIN, Texas –May 26, 2009– From the success of this year’s Austin Under 40 Awards (Au40), the Young Women’s Alliance Foundation will generously donate $17,500 to the Young Men’s Business League to benefit the Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps on Thursday, May 28th, at Union Park from 5:30-7:30 pm. This $17,500 donation from the YWA Foundation will allow 70 at-risk children to attend the Sunshine Camps free of charge this summer. This year marked the 11th anniversary of Au40; the event saw record attendance of over 675 people and was the second largest fundraising year. Demystifying Mentoring: Featuring Speaker Amy C. Baker
How to Find a Mentor and Why You Need One

AUSTIN, Texas –On Wednesday, November 19, Amy C. Baker will speak to the Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) from 6:30 to 8 PM at the North by Northwest Restaurant Pavilion in Austin, Texas. She will explain the difference between mentoring and coaching, discuss how to find a mentor, manage this relationship, and be an effective mentor to others. “Women are relational creatures to begin with. It’s how we are hard wired. Taking advantage of this is crucial to our success in the marketplace and beyond,” says Baker, who speaks to groups and businesses around the country. Baker is a professional speaker and author with nearly thirty years experience in Human Resources and Communications, twelve of which were spent as an HR Executive at Dell. She has authored two books; the first one titled “Succeed at Work without Sidetracking Your Faith- 7 Lessons of Career Excellence for Women” provides career development and inspiration for women in the workplace.
