The first opportunity to come learn about the Young Women’s Alliance is by attending our General Meeting.The General Meeting is a great way for you to learn about the development and networking opportunities offered by our organization first hand. The cost of the event is $10.00, which includes wine, light appetizers and the program for the evening. If you decide to join Young Women’s Alliance within 30 days of attending a General Meeting, we will credit your membership fee by $10.00.

Our General Meetings are held at Ballet Austin. If you will arrive around 6:10 and proceed to the check-in table, we will be there to welcome you. Before the General Meeting we will have a brief 10-15 minute information session about the organization and you can meet with the Board and ask any questions.

In order to welcome you into the organization and at any event that we have, there are designated ladies who represent the pillars of our organization at every event. We call these ladies YWA Pals, they will be wearing special stickers indicating so. Please find these ladies at any event and they will be more than happy to show you around and make sure that you get the full experience of what YWA has to offer.

Our April Saturday Session is all about Time Management! Amber Fogarty, Partner and CMO of SOS Leadership Institute ,will help us understand the "Time Management Myth." Do you ever feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day? Most of us feel that way on a daily basis. We have overflowing to do lists that often have more tasks on them at the end of the day than they did at the beginning. Time is the great equalizer. We all have the exact same number of hours in a day. How can we make the most of our time? The idea that time can be “managed” is a myth. No matter what we do, we can’t change the amount of time we have, nor can we change how quickly or slowly time goes by. We can only manage ourselves and the choices we make with our time. This session will focus on improving your time habits, identifying your time thieves, and making time work for you. How to Find a Mentor and Why You Need One

AUSTIN, Texas –On Wednesday, November 19, Amy C. Baker will speak to the Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) from 6:30 to 8 PM at the North by Northwest Restaurant Pavilion in Austin, Texas. She will explain the difference between mentoring and coaching, discuss how to find a mentor, manage this relationship, and be an effective mentor to others. “Women are relational creatures to begin with. It’s how we are hard wired. Taking advantage of this is crucial to our success in the marketplace and beyond,” says Baker, who speaks to groups and businesses around the country. Baker is a professional speaker and author with nearly thirty years experience in Human Resources and Communications, twelve of which were spent as an HR Executive at Dell. Higher Education Scholarship Application

Each year, the Young Women's Alliance Foundation awards $2,500 scholarships to women enrolled in graduate school or their junior or senior year of college. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated financial need, commitment to community service, academic achievement and leadership potential. Recipients will be chosen in the spring and funds will be dispersed for use during either the fall or spring semester of the upcoming school year, to be selected by the recipient. Recipients must participate in a Community Impact Project during the semester they receive the scholarship money.
